Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking an on-site Physician to serve detainees and supervise primary care responsibilities. The role operates as an independent (1099) contractor with sixteen hours per week charged to a correctional facility in California.

It requires a medical degree, active license, DEA/DPS registrations, and U.S. residency training. Responsibilities include diagnosis, treatment, medication management, and collaboration with hospital staff and mental health professionals.

Qualifications

• Medical degree and state license required.
• Board Certified/Board Eligible in primary care or related field preferred.
• Two years of direct work experience as a Physician.
• Completion of a U.S.-based residency program required.
• Current DEA and DPS Certificate of Registration.

Responsibilities

• Examine and treat detainees to ensure proper injury care, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment and recovery.
• Provide medical treatment and orders for studies, tests and ancillary services.
• Prescribe pharmaceuticals and treatment regimens; review cases needing ongoing attention.
• Educate patients on lifestyle and diet changes to improve health.
• Maintain clear health records and use Electronic Health Records system.

Education

Medical degree in medicine

Licensed to practice in the state

Residency completed in the U.S.

Current DEA and DPS Registration

Board Certified/Board Eligible in primary care or related field
