Job summary

Block's Data Science team is seeking a Data Scientist to own pricing modeling and experimentation at the core of global pricing. You will build elasticity and willingness-to-pay models, design experiments, and create analytics infrastructure shaping pricing strategy and automation.

You will design and run experiments, quantify trade-offs between margin and merchant retention, and work with cross-functional teams to deploy scalable, guardrailed pricing insights across geographies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in statistics, data science, economics, or similar STEM field with 7+ years in a relevant role or
• Graduate degree in statistics, data science, economics, or similar STEM field with 5+ years in a relevant role

Responsibilities

• Model price elasticity and willingness-to-pay across segments, geographies, and payment methods.
• Design, run, and read pricing experiments (A/B, diff-in-diff, bandit tests) and translate results into recommendations.
• Decompose merchant economics across interchange, scheme, and risk-cost layers.
• Build pricing intelligence for Deal tooling (rate recommendations, ROI logic, guardrails).
• Evaluate and monitor AI systems in production for accuracy, drift, and mispricing.
• Own end-to-end execution across the stack: analysis, pipeline, ETL, experimentation, visualization.
