Job summary

OpenAI seeks a founding Data Scientist for Pricing to design analyses, models, experiments, and decision frameworks that guide pricing strategy across our products. You will partner with the CFO, Head of Pricing, and senior leaders to translate customer behavior, product usage, revenue outcomes, and market dynamics into clear recommendations.

This role blends hands‑on technical depth with executive storytelling, requires independent operation, and offers influence over company‑level pricing

Qualifications

• Advanced data science, analytics, and quantitative methods expertise.
• Strong modeling, experimentation, and causal inference capabilities.
• Experience solving pricing/monetization or marketplace problems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior analytical partner to CFO and pricing leadership on monetization decisions.
• Build the analytic foundation for pricing across segments, from exploration to repeatable systems.
• Design analyses linking customer behavior, usage, revenue outcomes, and pricing strategy.
• Develop models, experiments, and decision frameworks for pricing, packaging, discounts, and willingness‑to‑pay questions.
• Translate technical work into executive recommendations and operating guidance for cross‑functional teams.
• Shape roadmap and operating model for a pricing data science function.
