PeopleShare by PROMAN is seeking a Press Brake Operator in Hanover, MD to set up and run CNC press brakes, forming sheet metal per drawings and orders. The role requires blueprint literacy, tooling selection, and precise measurement to ensure parts meet specs.

The position is Temp to Perm with pay between $22-26/hour, with occasional overtime. Training and safety are emphasized, and the candidate should be able to work 5:30pm–3:30am, Mon–Fri.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1–3 years of press brake, metal fabrication, or sheet metal experience preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints, work orders, and schematics.
  • Ability to lift materials, stand for extended periods, and work overtime as needed.
  • Strong safety awareness and ability to work well in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC press brakes to form sheet metal components according to engineering drawings, work orders, and production requirements.
  • Select and install appropriate tooling, including punches and dies, and perform machine setup, programming, and bend sequence verification.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, bend drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate part production.
  • Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks to verify bend angles, dimensions, hole locations, and cosmetic quality.
  • Use precision measuring equipment, including calipers, tape measures, squares, protractors, and gauges, to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Identify and report nonconforming parts, stopping production when quality standards are not met and assisting with corrective actions.
  • Maintain machine cleanliness, tooling condition, and accurate production records while adhering to all safety and quality requirements.

Title: Press Brake Operator
Contract Type: Temp to Perm
Pay Rate: $22-26/hr
Start Date: ASAP
Schedule: Mon–Fri 5:30pm-3:30am
Training Schedule: 1st Day 8am-5pm, 1st 2 to 3 weeks 7am-5pm
OT Required: Yes, on occasion
Lunch Break Details: 45 minutes unpaid (12pm-12:45pm)
Dress Code: warehouse casual, safety shoes (steel toe or composite) Safety glasses/gloves (provided)
WHAT ARE THE TOP 3 TECHNICAL (HARD) SKILLS THE IDEAL CANDIDATE MUST HAVE AS A PRESS BRAKE OPERATOR?
  1. Ability to read blueprints, work orders, bend drawings, and schematics
  2. Ability to operate and setup press brake machinery
  3. Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency using precision measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and gauges

DAY TO DAY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES AS A PRESS BRAKE OPERATOR:
  1. Set up and operate CNC press brakes to form sheet metal components according to engineering drawings, work orders, and production requirements.

PRESS BRAKE OPERATOR SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS (I.e. education/years’ experience/software/industry or position experience):
  1. Experience setting up and operating CNC and/or manual press brake machines to bend and form sheet metal components.
  2. Ability to perform quality inspections and verify parts meet dimensional and workmanship standards.
  3. Knowledge of manufacturing safety practices and the ability to work safely around fabrication equipment and material handling devices.
  4. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team-oriented production environment.
  5. High School Diploma or GED.
  6. 1-3 years of press brake, metal fabrication, or sheet metal manufacturing experience preferred.
  7. Ability to lift materials, stand for extended periods, and work overtime as needed.
