Essential Functions

1. Manage classroom ensuring compliance with all MSDE-OCC regulations, company standards, policies, and procedures.
2. Provide a welcoming and friendly environment for children, parents, and visitors.
3. Maintain attractive and current classroom and hallway displays, including an educational Parent Board.
4. Create and implement age-appropriate, stimulating lesson plans aligned with weekly themes and curriculum.
5. Supervise and assist children during activities, using positive discipline techniques as needed.
6. Ensure the classroom environment is clean, safe, and well-maintained.
7. Complete all required paperwork accurately, including Daily Reports, accident reports, and attendance records.
8. Support and guide assistant teachers to ensure smooth classroom operation.
9. Communicate effectively with parents, providing updates and addressing concerns promptly.
10. Identify and resolve classroom and school issues collaboratively with staff and management.

Qualifications

Physical Demands: The role requires frequent bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds.

Education/Experience: Candidates must have at least 90 clock hours in Child Development and Curriculum Planning and one year of experience in a licensed preschool classroom. This can be replaced by one year of college (30 semester hours) or a combination of classroom experience and college hours. Additionally, 9 clock hours of training in communication with staff, parents, and the public are required. An AA or BA in early childhood education or related fields is preferred. MD State Credential Level 5 is required.
