Job Description

Responsible for the daily planning, management, and supervision of the classroom and children. Generally, assisted by an assistant teacher. Ensures all parent, children, and staff concerns are appropriately addressed.

Responsibilities

1. Maintain appearance, cleanliness, and safety of the classroom in accordance with NAEYC guidelines.
2. Complete all academy and classroom paperwork, including daily notes, accident reports, and attendance reports.
3. Participate in staff meetings, academy events, and parent meetings as requested.
4. Assist and supervise children during all activities.
5. Counsel children on social, academic, or adjustment issues as needed.
6. Prepare and implement lesson plans, programs, and schedules.
7. Develop and prepare instructional aids and materials for classroom activities.
8. Assist children during meals and clean-up.
9. Ensure all classroom and outdoor equipment are in good condition and properly maintained.
10. Arrange the classroom into well-defined interest areas.
11. Supervise other staff members to ensure the classroom functions smoothly.
12. Communicate with parents and maintain developmental profiles for children.
13. Schedule and conduct parent and teacher conferences throughout the year.
14. Maintain family information and classroom bulletin boards.
