Essential Functions:
- Manage classroom ensuring compliance with MSDE-OCC regulations, company standards, policies, and procedures.
- Provide a welcoming environment for children, parents, and visitors.
- Maintain attractive classroom displays and an updated Parent Board.
- Create and implement age-appropriate, stimulating lesson plans aligned with weekly themes and curriculum.
- Supervise children during activities, using positive discipline techniques as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness, appearance, and safety of the classroom environment.
- Complete all paperwork accurately, including reports and attendance records.
- Support and guide assistant teachers to ensure smooth classroom operation.
- Communicate effectively with parents, providing updates and addressing concerns.
- Identify opportunities and resolve issues within the classroom and school collaboratively.
Physical Demands:
The role requires frequent bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and carrying.
Education and Experience:
Minimum requirements include 90 clock hours in Child Development and Curriculum Planning, with at least 1 year of experience in a licensed preschool classroom. This can be substituted with 1 year of college (30 semester hours) or a combination of classroom experience and college hours. Additionally, 9 clock hours in communication training are required. An AA or BA in early childhood education or related fields is preferred. MD State Credential Level 5 is required.
