Job summary

Olympia School District in Olympia, WA is seeking a Paraeducator-Developmental Learning Classroom to support IEP goals and assist certificated staff across instructional settings.

The position runs 6.0 hours per day, Monday through Friday, 180 days per year with 10 paid holidays, offering health, dental, vision, basic life insurance, and retirement options under SEBB/DRS. Training and benefits continue under the CBA.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; and one of the following: ETS Parapro assessment or Master Teacher Inc. Paraeducator Online Training Program or 72 quarter/48 semester credits, or an Associate’s degree (100 level or higher).
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.
• Experience with school-age children who qualify for special education.
• Participation in health-related trainings; First Aid and CPR training may be required.
• Willingness to obtain needed certifications (e.g., Type II License, Food Handlers Permit).
• Right Response Certification or willingness to obtain and maintain.

Responsibilities

• Assist certificated staff in implementing IEP-related plans and goals.
• Assist with creating educational materials to support student progress.
• Collect and communicate data to evaluate student progress.
• Administer first aid and address health care needs as required.
• Maintain students' files for program planning and development.
• Monitor safety and provide necessary accommodations across settings.
• Collaborate with staff to implement instructional and behavioral plans.
• Contribute to a positive learning environment for students and staff.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Facilitate student independence in instructional settings.
• Participate in team meetings and trainings to improve skills.
