Job summary

The Maryland Rural Development Corporation (MRDC) is seeking a Head Start Teacher Assistant to support classroom instruction and foster a safe, engaging learning environment for preschool children. You will partner with the Head Start Teacher, assist with activities, and help families stay involved.

A high school diploma or GED is required; CDA or higher in Early Childhood Education is preferred. The role requires reliability, ability to follow directions, and willingness to pass background

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; CDA or ECE coursework preferred.
• Experience with preschool-aged children is desired.
• Willingness to complete background checks and licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Start Teacher with lesson plans and activities.
• Engage children in developmentally appropriate learning.
• Observe and input on children's progress for individual plans.
• Model positive social-emotional behaviors and problem solving.
• Supervise children to ensure safety and nurture learning.
• Prepare materials and maintain a clean classroom space.
• Support families and encourage involvement in Head Start events.
• Attend trainings and collaborate with staff and administrators.
