Maryland Rural Development Corporation (MRDC) seeks a Head Start Teacher Assistant to support a preschool classroom, assist with lesson planning, and promote school readiness in a developmental, engaging environment. You will help with behavior management, daily routines, and family engagement initiatives.

The role emphasizes collaboration with the Head Start team, adherence to health and safety policies, and contributing to a positive learning culture for children aged 3–5.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CDA credential, Associate’s degree, or coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Previous experience working with preschool-aged children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Start Teacher in planning and implementing lesson plans aligned with Head Start guidelines.
• Engage with children in developmentally appropriate activities (play, reading, hands-on experiences).
• Observe and assess children’s development and contribute to individualized learning plans.
• Model positive social-emotional behaviors and problem-solving skills.
• Supervise children to ensure a safe and nurturing environment.
