Job summary

Maryland Rural Development Corporation (MRDC) seeks a Head Start Teacher to implement developmentally appropriate preschool curricula and collaborate with the Education Coordinator and MRDC team. The role focuses on supporting social, intellectual, physical, and emotional growth for 3- to 5-year-olds within the Head Start framework.

Responsibilities include individualizing instruction, maintaining portfolios, and ensuring a safe, engaging classroom.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• Background check in MD and surrounding states required.
• At least one year of early childhood classroom teaching preferred.
• Experience working with children in educational settings.

Responsibilities

• Implement developmentally appropriate preschool curriculum per guidance from the Education Coordinator and leaders.
• Refer children suspected of having special needs to appropriate staff and staff teams.
• Create and maintain portfolios with weekly observations and developmental assessments.
• Supervise children and implement positive behavior management strategies.
• Attend trainings, workshops, and staff meetings to enhance professional skills.
