The Maryland Rural Development Corporation is seeking a Head Start Teacher Assistant to support the lead teacher in delivering a safe, engaging preschool program focused on school readiness and social-emotional growth. You will help plan and implement activities, observe progress, and collaborate with families to promote learning.

You will support routines, maintain a clean classroom, and assist in preparing materials for parent meetings, while complying with Head Start policies and MRDC

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; CDA credential, Associate’s degree, or ECE coursework preferred.
• Experience with preschool-aged children preferred in an early childhood setting.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive to MRDC locations throughout the state.
• Must pass criminal background check, fingerprinting, and Maryland licensing requirements including medical eval and TB screening.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced classroom and collaborate with staff and families.

Responsabilités

• Assist Head Start Teacher in planning and implementing lesson plans aligned with Head Start guidelines.
• Engage children in developmentally appropriate activities, including play, reading, and hands-on experiences.
• Observe and assess development; contribute input for individualized learning plans.
• Model positive social-emotional behaviors and support problem-solving skills.
• Supervise children to ensure a safe, nurturing environment; maintain classroom organization.
• Support routines (meals, naptime, transitions) and assist with parent meetings.
• Develop relationships with families and communicate progress regularly.
• Collaborate with teacher, staff, and program administrators; attend required trainings.
