Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Presales Application Engineer – Busway to support its power distribution portfolio. This role focuses on low-voltage busway and busbar distribution systems for data centers, commercial, and industrial applications.

The successful candidate translates customer specifications into technical, manufacturable, compliant busway solutions and works closely with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, and Manufacturing throughout the pre-sales process.

Qualifications

• Technical expertise in selecting, sizing, configuring busway systems and accessories.
• Experience reviewing specifications and layouts to design busway solutions.
• Ability to create layouts considering ampacity, voltage, and routing.
• Knowledge of NEC, UL 857, NEMA, IEEE and related standards.
• Translate customer needs into manufacturable designs aligned with platforms.
• Collaborate with Sales to develop proposals and clarify scope.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise in busway selection, sizing, and configuration.
• Review specifications and diagrams to develop busway solutions.
• Develop layouts considering ampacity, voltage drop, routing, and tap-off locations.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, UL, NEMA, IEEE and other standards.
• Translate concepts into manufacturable designs aligned with product platforms.
• Collaborate with Sales to prepare proposals and clarify scope/removals.
• Coordinate with Product Engineering and Manufacturing to validate capability and lead times.
• Support technical and commercial evaluation of project requirements.
• Prepare technical documentation: layouts, diagrams, schedules, and submittals.
• Provide technical support during meetings, design reviews, and site visits.
• Identify value-engineering opportunities to improve cost and installation efficiency.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of tools and standards.
