Job summary

Vertiv seeks a Commercial Estimating Manager to lead the estimating team with a focus on Busway, delivering accurate, timely cost estimates and competitive pricing for customer bids.

You will mentor engineers, coordinate with Sales, Engineering, Operations and Supply Chain, and drive continuous improvement in estimating tools, data, and processes to win high-value opportunities. This role requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and deep knowledge of power distribution equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in electrical power distribution and estimating.
• 3+ years of people management experience.
• Experience estimating engineered-to-order switchgear, busway, or skid solutions.
• Familiarity with UL standards UL 857, 1558, UL 891, UL 67.
• Ability to translate specifications into cost estimates.
• Experience improving quote configurators and estimating data.

Responsibilities

• Lead and guide the Commercial Estimating team in developing clear, concise cost estimates.
• Oversee cost estimating activities, equipment selections, and technical calculations for Busway applications.
• Ensure consistent use of the Quote Configurator and estimating tools.
• Assist in hiring and onboarding of new Estimating Engineers.
• Coach and mentor engineers to improve development and productivity.
• Participate in performance reviews and evaluate estimating performance.
• Review customer specifications and RFPs to ensure profitability and schedule commitments.
• Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to resolve questions.
• Drive continuous improvement of estimating standards and processes.
• Maintain a positive team culture aligned with safety and integrity.
