Job summary

SaltWater Grill is a family friendly full-service seafood restaurant seeking a reliable Prep Cook to help our kitchen run smoothly, keep quality consistent, and support the line during service.

The Prep Cook prepares ingredients, mise en place, and batch items per recipes and food-safety standards, works closely with the kitchen team to ensure tickets are executed quickly and guests receive consistent food.

Qualifications

• Kitchen experience preferred; training provided for the right candidate.
• Ability to follow recipes and prep lists accurately.
• Basic knife skills and comfort working at a steady pace.
• Knowledge of food-safety basics and proper handling.

Responsibilities

• Wash, peel, chop, slice, dice, and portion ingredients according to specs.
• Prepare sauces, dressings, and batch items as directed.
• Label, date, rotate, and store food using FIFO and procedures.
• Follow recipes, prep guides, and lists to maintain consistency and reduce waste.
• Keep prep areas clean and sanitized; monitor inventory and notify supervisor if low.
• Support the line during busy periods with restocking and plating assistance.
• Follow all health-department, HACCP, and company food-safety rules.
• Work safely with knives, slicers, mixers, and kitchen equipment.
• Communicate with chefs, line cooks, and dishwashers about timing and needs.
• Perform other kitchen duties as assigned.
