Job summary

St. Paul’s Assisted Living in South Bend is seeking a reliable Prep Cook to join our culinary services team.

The Prep Cook supports the kitchen by preparing ingredients and assisting with basic food preparation to ensure residents receive nutritious, well-balanced and attractively presented meals in a timely manner. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous kitchen or food service experience preferred.
• Knowledge of basic food preparation and kitchen safety procedures.
• ServSafe certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, slicing, and measuring food items according to recipes and menu requirements.
• Assist cooks and chefs in preparing and plating meals for residents.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen, prep areas, and equipment.
• Properly label and store food items to ensure freshness and prevent cross-contamination.
• Follow all food safety regulations and company policies.
• Help with receiving and storing deliveries and rotating stock.
• Work collaboratively with the dietary team to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
• Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned by the Chef or Food Service Manager.
