St. Paul’s Assisted Living in South Bend is seeking a reliable Prep Cook to join our culinary services team. The role supports kitchen operations by preparing ingredients and assisting with basic meals to ensure nutritious, well-balanced dishes for residents.

The position offers a part-time Day Shift (6:00am - 2:00pm) with benefits, on-site work, and opportunities for growth within Trinity Health network.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous kitchen/food service experience preferred.
• Knowledge of basic food preparation and kitchen safety procedures.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, slicing, and measuring according to recipes.
• Assist cooks and chefs in preparing and plating meals for residents.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in kitchen and prep areas.
• Label and store food items to ensure freshness and prevent cross-contamination.
• Follow all food safety regulations and company policies.
• Assist with receiving and storing deliveries and rotating stock.
• Collaborate with dietary team to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
• Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned by the Chef or Food Service Manager.

The Prep Cook supports the kitchen by preparing ingredients and assisting with basic food preparation to ensure residents receive nutritious, well-balanced, and attractively presented meals in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, slicing, and measuring food items according to recipes and menu requirements
• Assist cooks and chefs in preparing and plating meals for residents
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen, prep areas, and equipment
• Properly label and store food items to ensure freshness and prevent cross-contamination
• Follow all food safety regulations and company policies
• Help with receiving and storing deliveries and rotating stock
• Work collaboratively with the dietary team to ensure efficient kitchen operations
• Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned by the Chef or Food Service Manager

• Schedule may include weekends and holidays
