Job summary

Holyoke Medical Center is seeking a Pre-Op Surgical Associate to coordinate preoperative preparation in the final days before surgery. You will work closely with the surgical team to ensure patients are ready for procedures, reviewing charts and verifying orders, clearances, and medications.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant or Office Assistant training required.
• Experience in hospital or outpatient settings using EMR preferred.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills required.
• Ability to lift up to 10 pounds and work in an hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Review surgical charts for the following day.
• Assemble add-on charts for the following day.
• Organize patient charts and paperwork.
• Verify H&P, required clearances, and surgical orders.
• Print consent forms and manage scanned consents.
• Instruct patients on preoperative medication holds.
• Coordinate consents/H&P with surgical offices.
• Gather documentation for anesthesia needs.
• Determine pre-procedure arrival times and transportation needs.
• Make pre-operative calls to confirm instructions and arrival times.
• Order documents as needed.
• Answer calls from medical offices and schedulers.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by Nursing Leadership.
