Job summary

Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center is seeking a Pre-Surgical Screening RN to complete pre-anesthesiology work for surgical patients. The role involves conducting assessment interviews, education, and coordinating with anesthesiology to ensure patient readiness for surgery.

The RN will review pre-op tests, provide peri-operative education, and assist in registration with direct patient care. Requires RN licensure, 2+ years clinical experience, and BLS within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Current state licensure as an RN
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with computers and long desk work
• Knowledge of medical instruments used in surgery and endoscopy
• Ability to interpret age-appropriate care requirements
• Past clinical experience of at least 2 years

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-anesthesia interviews and assess readiness for surgery
• Provide patient education on tests and procedures
• Ensure complete pre-operative data, labs and testing
• Coordinate with anesthesia and departments for patient readiness
• Assist in registration area with direct patient care as directed
• Promote positive department image and communicate with leadership
• Complete competency program and documentation
• Provide training for projects and share knowledge with staff
• Support planning and education needs in the department
