Surgical Institute of Reading is seeking a full-time Pre-Call Registered Nurse (RN) to perform comprehensive preoperative telephone assessments and coordinate readiness activities for scheduled procedures. You will work closely with anesthesia providers, surgeons, PAT, and perioperative teams to ensure patient safety and preparedness.

Qualifications

• PA RN licensure required and active.
• Current BLS certification.
• Experience in perioperative nursing or Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) preferred.
• Strong assessment and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conducts comprehensive preoperative telephone screenings.
• Reviews schedules and patient charts for pre-call needs.
• Performs nursing assessments via telephone.
• Identifies high-risk findings and escalates to anesthesia/PAT.
• Reviews preoperative orders to ensure testing and clearances are obtained.
• Coordinates labs, tests, clearances, and documentation.
• Provides preoperative education on medications, NPO status, arrival times, and postoperative expectations.
• Ensures accurate and timely documentation in the medical record.
• Collaborates with PAT, anesthesia, surgeons, scheduling, and perioperative teams.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and privacy.
