Job summary

Inova Franconia-Springfield ASC in Alexandria, VA is seeking a Preop Assessment RN to evaluate and prepare patients for anesthesia and surgery. You will conduct comprehensive preoperative assessments, review histories, and communicate findings to surgical teams.

The role requires at least 1 year of RN experience, Virginia licensure, and BCLS. Candidates should have strong communication skills and the ability to manage high call volumes in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year progressive RN experience.
• Virginia RN licensure or eligibility; multi-state license acceptable.
• BCLS certification required on start.
• Experience in preoperative, surgical, or critical care settings preferred.
• Strong communication and telephone skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough preoperative assessments, reviewing medical history, medications, allergies, and risk factors.
• Educate patients about procedures, preoperative instructions, anesthesia, and postoperative expectations; address concerns.
• Accurately document assessment findings and education in the medical record; communicate with perioperative team.
