Job summary

Abbott Construction in Seattle seeks a Preconstruction Manager to lead preconstruction efforts or support Project Executives across multiple projects, focusing on risk mitigation and value during design and preconstruction.

This role collaborates with VP of Acquisition, Director of Preconstruction, and project teams to guide strategies, cost estimates, and VE processes, ensuring goals, schedules, and budgets align.

Qualifications

• BS in Construction Management, Marketing and/or Communication or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three to five years of construction-related experience in a preconstruction role, with over 10 years in the construction industry overall.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
• Superior communication and presentation skills.
• Must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
• Capable of communicating effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
• Knowledge of all aspects of the construction process.
• Must have a strong work ethic, sense of urgency, organizational skills, task oriented.
• Must be willing to travel if required.

Responsibilities

• Be a champion for expressing the importance of preconstruction and collaboration at its finest.
• Track status of all current preconstruction projects monthly with Director of Preconstruction and provide reports to VP of Acquisition.
• Audit projects in preconstruction to verify status, needs, and risks.
• Lead communication to ensure teams are accountable to each other, clients, and design teams.
• Align risks, forecasted margin, schedule, and manpower as projects move to construction.
• Develop win strategies for project pursuits and preconstruction issues.
• Coordinate with Operations Manager and external experts, and mentor teams on best practices.
• Assist with project proposals, content, and interview participation.
• Participate in project estimate reviews and Value Engineering as needed.
• Create Project Charters at start of preconstruction and ensure adherence.
• Build deep relationships with area clients and construction colleagues.
