Job summary

Metric DCX is seeking a Senior Preconstruction Manager to lead our Data Centers team in Herndon, VA, guiding the most complex projects from pursuit to buyout.

You will own pursuits, review documentation for constructability, set timelines, coordinate with Marketing, and build strong client relationships through every phase of the project.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in construction across preconstruction, estimating and operations.
• Experience with estimating and scheduling; comfortable with estimating systems.
• Degree in Construction, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Problem-solver with ability to anticipate conflicts.
• Understands client standards and how to meet them.

What you’ll do

• Own project pursuits and preconstruction deliverables in coordination with our Corporate and Estimating teams
• Review project documentation for quality, constructability, and completeness
• Set and manage timelines to keep proposals on track and on budget
• Develop and coordinate proposal content with Marketing
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through every phase of pursuit
• Identify risk and resolve constructability issues before they become problems
• Track design progress against cost, schedule, and quality benchmarks
• Partner closely with Operations, Scheduling, Legal, and Procurement

What you bring

• 10+ years in construction, ideally spanning preconstruction, estimating, and operations
• Estimating and scheduling experience, with comfort in computer-based estimating systems
• A degree in Construction, Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
• Sharp written and verbal communication skills
• A problem-solver's instinct - you spot conflicts before they happen
• An understanding of what makes a client's standards unique, and how to meet them
