X4 Engineering in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Preconstruction Manager with 1–2 years of experience in preconstruction, estimating or project engineering to join our growing team focused on data center and mission-critical projects.

About the Role

We are working with a growing data center construction business that is looking to add a Preconstruction Manager to its team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 1–2 years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, project engineering, or construction who is looking to develop their career within the rapidly expanding data center and mission critical sector.

You will work closely with senior preconstruction and project leadership, gaining exposure to large-scale data center projects and taking increasing ownership of estimating, subcontractor coordination, budgeting and project planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Support preconstruction activities from early design through project award.


• Assist with the preparation and development of detailed project estimates and budgets.


• Review construction drawings, specifications and project documents.


• Assist with subcontractor and vendor solicitation, scope reviews and bid comparisons.


• Support bid leveling and subcontractor negotiations.


• Assist with value engineering and constructability reviews.


• Help identify project risks, scope gaps and potential cost-saving opportunities.


• Assist in developing project schedules and procurement strategies.


• Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors and internal project teams.


• Maintain accurate project documentation and estimating information.


• Support the preparation of client presentations, proposals and preconstruction reports.


• Assist with the transition from preconstruction into project execution.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of experience in construction, estimating, preconstruction, project engineering or a related field.


• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline preferred.


• Strong understanding of construction fundamentals.


• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.


• Strong analytical and organizational skills.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.


• Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.

Preferred Experience

• Exposure to data center, mission critical, commercial, industrial or other complex construction projects.


• Previous experience working for a general contractor, construction manager, subcontractor or developer.


• Familiarity with estimating and construction software such as Bluebeam, Procore, BuildingConnected or similar platforms.


• Internship or co-op experience within construction or engineering will be considered.
