Job summary

Metric DCX, a growing data center-focused construction firm in Herndon, VA, seeks a Senior Estimator to own pricing on technically complex, fast-moving projects. You will run cost estimates from early budgeting through final bid and lead junior estimators and MEP specialists.

You will dig into scopes with the design team, source subcontractor pricing, and bring a value-engineering mindset to hit budgets without sacrificing quality. Daily travel to Herndon VA is required.

Qualifications

• Senior-level estimating experience on large-scale projects.
• Proficient with estimating tools (Timberline/OST) and Excel.
• Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field is a plus, not required.
• Ability to spot risk early and explain it clearly to stakeholders.
• Genuine interest in data center or mission-critical construction.

Responsibilities

• Run cost estimates for large, complex builds from budgeting to final bid.
• Mentor junior estimators and MEP specialists in a growing team.
• Analyze scopes/drawings with design team to catch issues early.
• Source and evaluate subcontractor pricing and negotiate where needed.
• Apply value-engineering mindset to hit budget while maintaining quality.
• Maintain close client/design-partner communication to reflect needs in pricing.
• Track market trends (materials, labor, subs) and incorporate into estimates.

$9B+ in annual revenue, 3, 000+ people, 17 offices - and the Data Center group in Herndon, VA is growing. We're looking for a Senior Estimator to take ownership of pricing on some of the most technically complex, fast-moving projects in the business.

What the role involves

• Running point on cost estimates for large, complex builds - from early budgeting through final bid
• Leading and mentoring junior estimators and MEP specialists as part of a growing team
• Digging into scopes and drawings with the design team to catch issues before they become costly ones
• Sourcing and evaluating subcontractor pricing, and negotiating where it counts
• Bringing a value-engineering mindset - finding smarter ways to hit budget without sacrificing quality
• Staying close to clients and design partners so pricing reflects what they actually need
• Keeping an eye on the market - material costs, labor trends, subcontractor capacity - and building that into every number

What you'll bring

• Solid estimating experience at a senior level, ideally on large-scale commercial or mission-critical projects
• Comfort with standard estimating tools (Timberline, OST, or similar) plus Excel
• A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is a plus, not a requirement
• The judgment to spot risk early and the communication skills to explain it clearly
• A genuine interest in data center or mission-critical construction
