Job summary

Key People is seeking an experienced Toolmaker to join our client’s Tool Room in Hastings, Michigan. The role focuses on building, repairing, and maintaining precision tooling—including dies, molds, fixtures, and production tooling—for high-volume manufacturing.

Qualified candidates will have a Tool & Die Apprenticeship or equivalent experience, strong blueprint reading skills, and proficiency with CNC Tool Room equipment.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized Tool & Die Apprenticeship or 8 years of progressive Toolmaker experience in manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD prints, and specs.
• Experience building/repairing dies, molds, fixtures, and precision tooling.
• Proficiency with manual and CNC tooling, and precision measuring instruments.
• Strong troubleshooting, attention to detail, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Build, repair, modify, and maintain precision tooling for high-volume production.
• Interpret drawings and CAD prints to determine machining methods and sequences.
• Plan and perform precision machining, fitting, and finishing of tooling components.
• Set up, operate, and maintain mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders, and CNC Tool Room equipment.
• Conduct precision surface grinding to meet tolerances and quality standards.
• Install, adjust, test tooling during production trials, and verify dimensions.
