Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a part-time payroll specialist to handle multi-state payroll processing, maintain records, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage laws. You will provide timely responses to employee questions and support management on payroll matters in a confidential and service-focused way.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of payroll experience, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with HRIS systems (Dayforce a plus).

Qualifications

• 3+ years of payroll processing experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent; BSc/BA in business, accounting or relevant field is a plus.
• Experience with multi-state payroll and payroll tax regulations preferred.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll requirements, including wage and hour regulations.
• Advanced in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with payroll/HRIS systems; Dayforce experience a plus.
• Experience with union payrolls.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Process full-cycle, multi-state payroll accurately and in a timely manner.
• Review and verify payroll data including hours, earnings, deductions, and bonuses.
• Maintain accurate employee payroll records and update the payroll system.
• Calculate and process garnishments and other withholdings.
• Review payroll reports and reconcile discrepancies before finalizing payroll.
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and questions promptly.
• Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws and payroll regulations.
• Coordinate with HR, Accounting, and other departments for accurate data.
