Job summary

SpartanNash in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a part-time Meat Cutter to accurately cut and prepare various meats according to department standards. This role helps ensure the store's financial success while maintaining quality and safety.

You will weigh, trim, grind and portion products, maintain displays, and assist customers with product knowledge. A high school diploma or GED is required; one year retail or meat-cutting experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year retail or related experience preferred; meat cutter/apprentice experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend and interpret documents.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Suggestive selling / knowledge of products.
• Detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Cut and weigh steaks, chops, etc. for individual servings.
• Produce value-added products per established guidelines.
• Cut, trim, and bone carcass sections or prime cuts to cooking cuts.
• Follow established recipes to grind and tray meats and make sausage and other products.
• Price, date, wrap and/or bag meat products per established guidelines.
• Properly fill, rotate and merchandise shelves, cases and displays.
• Notify the manager if products and supplies need to be ordered.
• Receives, unloads, and stocks merchandise.
• Have familiarity with all products carried in the department; know differences in price, taste, preparation, use etc.
• Practice suggestive selling techniques with customers.
• Maintain a clean, attractive and well stocked department.
• Follow all PPE and Safety Guidelines
• Follow all Food Safety and Cleaning Expectations
• Follow guest experience guidelines
• May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience need
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed
