Job summary

SpartanNash's Allendale, MI location is seeking a Meat Cutter to join our store team. This role focuses on cutting and weighing steaks and chops, preparing value-added products, and maintaining clean, well-stocked meat departments.

You will follow recipes, rotate stock, and assist guests with product knowledge. We prefer candidates with retail experience and prior meat-cutting experience, plus basic math and reading skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1 year retail or related experience preferred.
• Prior meat cutter/apprentice experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Suggestive selling/Product knowledge.
• Detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Cut and weigh steaks, chops, etc. for individual servings.
• Produce 'value-added' products per established guidelines.
• Cut, trim, and bone carcass sections to prepare cooking cuts.
• Follow recipes to grind and tray meats and make sausage and other products.
• Price, date, wrap and/or bag meat products per guidelines.
• Fill, rotate and merchandise shelves, cases and displays.
• Notify manager when products or supplies need ordering.
• Receive, unload and stock merchandise.
• Maintain familiarity with products and pricing differences.
• Practice suggestive selling techniques with customers.
• Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked department.
• Follow PPE, safety, and food safety guidelines.
• Follow guest experience guidelines.
