Responsibilities

• Machine parts to specifications using lathes, milling machines, drill presses and related equipment.
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using micrometers and Vernier calipers.
• Measure, examine, and test completed parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
• Set up and operate basic machine tools and specialized variation tools for precision work.
• Align and secure fixtures, cutting tools, and materials onto machines.
• Select tools and materials for machining preparation.
• Monitor feed and speed during machining processes.
• Lay out, measure, and mark metal stock for cuts.
• Study parts, blueprints, and engineering data to determine methods and sequences.
• Observe machines to diagnose malfunctions and determine repairs.
• Check parts for lubrication and cooling.
• Clean and lubricate machines and tools.
• Exchange technical information with engineering and manufacturing.
