Job summary

Ingersoll Rand in Moody, AL is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our 1st shift team. You will set up and operate large vertical and horizontal lathes to repair and overhaul Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump components, reading drawings to ensure critical dimensions are met.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years as a machinist, strong measurement skills, and experience with VTLs or boring mills. The role requires overtime and safe operation of forklift and overhead crane in a 100% onsite facility.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a machine operator or machinist.
• 2+ years reading and interpreting blueprints.
• 1+ year working on king style boring mills (or VTLs).
• Ability to use precision measuring tools including micrometers and calipers.

Responsibilities

• Performs set ups of large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump components and operations of large Vertical & Horizontal Lathes.
• Interprets blueprints/drawings to determine critical dimensions and uses micrometers, calipers, dial indicators.
• Maintain tight tolerances as low as .0005”.
• Selects appropriate cutting tools and determines speeds and feeds for surface finish.
• Overtime may be required; typically throughout the week and occasionally on weekends.
• Operate forklift and overhead crane following EH&S & QMS.
• Lifting and rigging heavy components; assist in disassembly/reassembly of pumps.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.
