Job summary

Ingersoll Rand in Moody, AL is seeking a Manual Machining Specialist to repair and overhaul large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps and compressors on-site. You will operate vertical and horizontal lathes, read prints, and maintain tight tolerances to 0.0005 inches, using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.

You should have 3+ years as a machinist, be proficient with boring mills or VTLs, and be comfortable with tool changes, offsets, and overhead lifting gear.

Qualifications

• 3+ years as a machinist or machine operator
• 2+ years reading and interpreting blueprints
• 1+ year on king-style boring mills or VTLs
• Comfort using gauges, micrometers, calipers, deburring tools, die grinders, drill presses, and overhead lifting gear
• Proven knowledge of machine setup, controls, and capabilities

Responsibilities

• Set up and run large Vertical & Horizontal Lathes to repair and overhaul large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps and compressors
• Use prints to determine critical dimensions; verify work with micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators, and other precision instruments
• Hold tolerances down to 0.0005 inches when specified
• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes; follow EH&S and QMS procedures
• Rig, lift, disassemble, reassemble, repair, and rebuild heavy pump components
• Occasional overtime to meet customer needs
