Job summary

SPX Technologies is seeking a Machine Operator to set up and operate conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines to fabricate metallic parts in our Electric Heat division. You will read blueprints, adjust controls, and verify dimensions to ensure parts meet specifications.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 months of related experience or training and a high school diploma or GED. This on-site role involves standing for long periods, lifting up to 25 pounds, and working in a loud

Qualifications

• One to three months related experience and/or training.
• Fully qualified Machinist will have completed, including passing a written test, and satisfactory completion of at least eight terms of machinist courses at an accredited technical school.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Responsibilities

• Design and/or develop tolls, jigs, and fixtures used in production.
• Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
• Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
• Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
• Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
