Job summary

Oldcastle APG, a CRH Company, is seeking a machine operator to operate machinery under safety policies to produce a superior product. The role requires setting up equipment, monitoring for defects, and maintaining product quality while meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities include reading specifications, adjusting stops, performing routine maintenance, and assisting teammates. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with basic electronics and hydraulics knowledge encouraged.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; or at least one month of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Basic understanding of electronics and programmable controllers
• Knowledge with hydraulics, electricity and tools
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating/instruction manuals
• Basic math and ability to perform calculations using whole numbers and decimals
• Computer literacy and strong mechanical ability

Responsibilities

• Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
• Set stops or guides to specific lengths as indicated by scale, rule or templates
• Observe machine operation to detect product defects or machine malfunction
• Review product for inconsistencies or abnormal appearance assuring product meets quality requirements
• Perform routine machine maintenance
• Assist other operators to set up machines and any other necessary tasks to adhere to deadlines and completion of product
• Maintain clean and orderly work area
