Job summary

Oldcastle APG, Inc. in Rockwood, Tennessee is seeking a machine operator to run industrial equipment in a safety‑driven environment. You will read specifications, set controls, monitor for defects, and help ensure product quality while meeting production deadlines.

The role emphasizes routine maintenance, teamwork, and adherence to safety policies. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with basic electronics, hydraulics, and tool knowledge.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; or at least one month of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic understanding of electronics and programmable controllers.
• Knowledge with the basics of hydraulics, electricity and tools.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Must encompass computer literacy as well as strong mechanical ability.
• Leadership abilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
• Set stops or guides to specific lengths as indicated by scale, rule or templates
• Observes machine operation to detect product defects or machine malfunction
• Review product for inconsistencies or abnormal appearance assuring product meets quality requirements
• Perform routine machine maintenance
• Assist other operators to set up machines and any other necessary tasks to adhere to deadlines and completion of product
• Make sure all housekeeping is maintained in a clear and orderly fashion in assigned area
