Job summary

Aerotek is seeking an OD/ID Grinding Machine Operator for a contract-to-hire role in Machesney Park, IL. You will set up and operate older manual grinding equipment to produce high-precision ID/OD and surface grinding parts, reading blueprints and inspecting with precision tools.

Role requires attention to tight tolerances, basic math for inspections, and the ability to work shifts as needed. Training and safety procedures are provided, with a fully onsite layout and potential for shift

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of ID/OD grinding on manual machines.
• Experience setting up and operating manual grinders.
• Ability to read blueprints and instructions accurately.
• Experience in aerospace or high-precision industries.
• Proficient with dimensional inspection math.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual grinders, including ID/OD and surface grinding.
• Perform precision grinding to meet tight tolerance requirements.
• Read blueprints and determine grinding requirements.
• Set and adjust machine offsets, tooling and fixtures.
• Inspect parts with micrometers, calipers and bore gauges.
• Verify parts meet tolerances before release.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized work area; follow procedures.
• Collaborate with team to resolve production issues and improve processes.
