Job Title: OD/ID Grinding Machine Operator
Job Description
This role involves setting up and operating older-style manual grinding machines to perform high-precision ID/OD and surface grinding on metal components, with a strong focus on tight tolerances and quality inspection using precision measurement tools.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual grinding machines, including ID/OD and surface grinders, with a focus on older equipment.
- Perform precision grinding on various metal components to meet tight tolerance requirements, including work for aerospace applications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and related technical documentation to determine grinding requirements.
- Set and adjust machine offsets, tooling, and fixtures to achieve optimal performance and dimensional accuracy.
- Monitor grinding operations and make necessary adjustments to maintain consistent quality and productivity.
- Inspect in-process and finished parts using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other precision inspection tools.
- Verify that all parts meet specified tolerances and quality standards before release.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow standard operating procedures for safe machine operation.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve production issues and improve processes.
- Participate in mandatory initial training to learn shop-specific procedures, standards, and safety practices.
