Job summary

CMI Group, an aerospace machine shop in Phoenix, is seeking an ID/OD Grind Machinist to set up and operate grinding machines for precision aerospace parts. Both manual and CNC grinders are used, with night shift differential noted elsewhere in the posting.

Candidates should be able to read blueprints and maintain tight tolerances on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The role requires grinding experience, familiarity with grinder brands, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• CNC experience preferred but not required.
• 5+ years ID/OD grinding experience preferred; willing to train lathe or mill machinist.

Responsibilities

• Setup & operate grinding machines to produce high-precision aerospace components.
• Grind angles, contours, lines, spheres, etc. onto surfaces.
• Maintain inspection reports, SPC, and job travelers.
• Hold tolerances of .0002” - .0005” while maintaining productivity.
• Operate 2 machines regularly and communicate process improvements.
