Job summary

SGS is seeking a Petroleum Inspector to perform sampling, gauging, and reconciliation of hydrocarbon transfers between shore tanks, barges, or ships. You will work under API procedures, maintain safety standards, and prepare reports using SGS systems.

The role requires high school or equivalent and 6 months to 2 years of transferable experience; Inspector Development Program is preferred. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage, 401(k) matching, and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

  • High School or equivalent (Required)
  • 6 months to 2 years of transferrable industry experience (Preferred)
  • Completion of internal Inspector Development Program Level (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Samples, measures and temperatures of vessel and shore tanks per API procedures.
  • Follows safety standards and works within defined procedures.
  • Calculates and reports transferred hydrocarbon quantities and performs reconciliation.
  • Completes required reports using SGS Ship Inspection Report (SIR) or SAT systems.
  • Works with client representatives, US Customs, vessel personnel and shore facility staff.
  • Maintains communication on job status with the office and unit staff.
  • Adheres to industry, client and SGS internal standards and policies.
  • Performs other branch duties and back-office support as assigned.
