Job summary

SGS is seeking a Petroleum Inspector to perform testing and supervision of hydrocarbon cargo transfers, including gauging, sampling and reconciliation from shore tanks, barges or ships in accordance with API procedures and SGS standards.

The role requires a high school diploma, 6 months to 2 years of transferable industry experience, a valid driver’s license, and basic English; TWIC and IFIA certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 1/2 year to 2 years transferrable experience preferred.
• Must meet internal Inspector Development requirements when offered.

Responsibilities

• Sample, measure, and gauge vessel and shore tanks per API and SGS procedures.
• Compute quantities and reconcile transfers; complete reports in SIR/SAT systems.
• Coordinate with client representatives, vessel personnel, and authorities.
• Maintain knowledge of industry standards and SGS policies; comply with safety rules.
• Support back-office and housekeeping tasks as needed.
