Job summary

ASHFORD CONNEX, LLC is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to develop and optimize programs for precision machining on the production floor. The role requires translating engineering drawings into safe, efficient processes while collaborating with machinists, QA, and manufacturing engineering.

The ideal candidate has strong G-code/M-code knowledge, CAD/CAM experience, and a background in tight-tolerance manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Practical CNC programming experience in a precision manufacturing environment, supported by machining or technical training.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing to machining processes.
• Working knowledge of G-code, M-code, machining principles, cutting tools, and workholding.
• Experience with CAD/CAM software, program verification, and shop-floor troubleshooting.
• Ability to use precision inspection tools and communicate effectively with machinists and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and maintain CNC programs from engineering drawings, solid models, and manufacturing requirements.
• Develop machining sequences and select cutting tools, holders, workholding, speeds, feeds, and setup strategies.
• Use CAD/CAM tools and appropriate simulation or verification methods to identify machining risks before release.
• Support first-piece prove-outs, machine setups, troubleshooting, and program adjustments on the production floor.
• Optimize toolpaths, cycle times, tool life, surface finish, and dimensional consistency.
• Prepare setup sheets, tooling lists, program documentation, and operator instructions; maintain revision control.
• Collaborate with quality personnel to address dimensional issues and verify that machining processes meet print requirements.
• Assist with fixture concepts and provide feedback on design for manufacturability and recurring production issues.
