Job summary

Ashton North LLC is seeking a CNC Programmer to develop and optimize programs for precision machined parts in a manufacturing setting. You will translate engineering requirements into safe, efficient processes working with machinists, manufacturing engineering, and quality teams.

The role emphasizes reading drawings, GD&T, G-code/M-code proficiency, CAD/CAM tooling, and on-floor troubleshooting to meet exacting dimensional and finish specifications.

Qualifications

• Practical CNC programming experience in precision manufacturing.
• Ability to read drawings and apply GD&T to processes.
• Knowledge of G-code, M-code, tooling and workholding.
• Experience with CAD/CAM software and program verification.
• Ability to use precision inspection tools and communicate with machinists.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and maintain CNC programs from engineering drawings, solid models, and manufacturing requirements.
• Develop machining sequences and select cutting tools, holders, workholding, speeds, feeds, and setup strategies.
• Use CAD/CAM tools and appropriate simulation or verification methods to identify machining risks before release.
• Support first-piece prove-outs, machine setups, troubleshooting, and program adjustments on the production floor.
• Optimize toolpaths, cycle times, tool life, surface finish, and dimensional consistency.
• Prepare setup sheets, tooling lists, program documentation, and operator instructions; maintain revision control.
• Collaborate with quality personnel to address dimensional issues and verify that machining processes meet print requirements.
• Assist with fixture concepts and provide feedback on design for manufacturability and recurring production issues.
