Job summary

Dover Corp in Salisbury, MD seeks a skilled machinist to set up and operate machine tools to cut, shape and form metal stock and castings to exact sizes, using drawings and CAD specifications. You will determine dimensions and tolerances, use lathes, milling machines, and may run CNC consoles, verifying work with precision measuring instruments.

Requires a High School Diploma or GED plus 4 years of related machine shop experience; knowledge of geometry, safety rules and shop mathematics is

Qualifications

HS diploma or GED with 4 years of related machine shop experience.
Strong geometry skills (plane and solid geometry).
Ability to read safety rules, operating manuals and technical materials.
Machine shop training in mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties and layout and machining procedures.
Specialized machine operation training or apprenticeship a plus.
Demonstrated knowledge of machine operation safety.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate machine tools to cut, shape and form metal stock and castings to exact sizes using detailed drawings, CAD and specifications.
Determine dimensions and tolerances of jobs to be machined.
Use machine tools ranging from lathes to milling machines and may operate CNC-controlled machines.
Utilize precision measuring instruments to check the accuracy of work.
