Job summary

DHR Health is seeking a Patient Scheduler to coordinate scheduling of procedures and pre-access services. The role involves communicating with surgeons, anesthesia, and hospital staff to meet patient and physician needs.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or GED, strong customer service and computer skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with bilingual English/Spanish preference.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Medical terminology preferred.
• Customer service skills and computer skills are required.
• High degree of competency/experience in general.
• Able to respond effectively to patient thru verbal communication.
• Requires good communication and organizational skills.
• Requires independent judgment.
• Working knowledge of personal computer and software applications used in the job will be required.
• Must have one year of clerical/office related work experience in a medical or health care environment.
• Strong customer service skills are a must.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others.
• Schedules preoperative appointments and surgical procedures with all areas of the Hospital.
• Maintains schedule according to procedure and physician’s time and staffing requirements.
• Coordinates schedule assessing time and equipment availability, identifies conflicts and adjusts schedule as needed.
• Accurately prepares the schedule for timely distribution.
• Provides patients with general instructions and calls patients with time of arrival.
• Coordinates with Nurses for any add ons.
• Other duties as assigned.
