Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Practice Manager for the UPC Internal Medicine clinic in La Jolla to lead day-to-day operations of one of our largest primary care practices. You will oversee staffing, patient access, scheduling, and regulatory readiness in a union environment.

You will report to the Associate Director of Operations for General Internal Med, supervise clinic operations staff, and partner with HR, Finance, IT, and Revenue Cycle to drive performance and improve patient experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration or related area; equivalent experience/training.
• Five+ years of healthcare operations experience with supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of practice operations, scheduling systems, medical/insurance terminology, information systems, patient service standards, and regulatory requirements.
• HR management policies experience; ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and address HR issues.
• Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to prepare and present reports and proposals.
• Knowledge of business software and data management in clinic/center operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead administrative, clinical support, and front-office teams.
• Manage provider schedules, templates, and patient access.
• Monitor operational, financial, quality, and patient experience metrics.
• Support physicians and APPs to ensure efficient clinical operations.
• Implement systemwide initiatives, policies, and workflows.
• Coordinate with HR, Finance, IT, Revenue Cycle, and Population Health.
• Drive improvements in access, quality, safety, and employee engagement.
• Maintain regulatory and accreditation readiness.
