Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience in a medical office and/or mental health setting preferred.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Comfort with maintaining patient confidentiality and medical records.
  • Proficiency in computers and learning clinical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support providers and the patient care team with daily clinical and administrative operations.
  • Secure patient information and maintain medical records with confidentiality.
  • Respond to verbal and electronic requests for information per policies and provider instructions.
  • Follow safety procedures and emergency protocols in a clinical setting.
  • Assist in crisis situations when needed.

Job Summary

The Practice Assistant is a key member of the patient care team, supporting providers, maintaining accurate medical records, responding to patient and team requests, and helping ensure smooth daily operations. This opportunity offers a collaborative work environment, supportive team structure, and the chance to make a meaningful impact in a healthcare setting, including support for patients experiencing mental health concerns such as anxiety and depression.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support providers and the patient care team with daily clinical and administrative operations.
  • Secure patient information, maintain accurate medical records, and protect patient confidentiality.
  • Respond to verbal and electronic requests for information using established policies, reference tools, and provider instructions.
  • Help maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following procedures and legal regulations.
  • Understand and follow emergency procedures, including assisting in crisis situations when needed.
  • Complete additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay range: $20 to $22 per hour.
  • Schedule: Part-time.
  • Location: Madison, WI.
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Support patient care operations in a medical or mental health practice setting.
  • Maintain and safeguard patient records and confidential healthcare information.
  • Respond professionally to patient, provider, and team requests.
  • Follow clinical policies, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
  • 1 to 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • At least one year of experience in a medical office and/or mental health setting preferred.
  • Some experience in healthcare settings preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn clinical systems and office tools.
  • Professional appearance, demeanor, and ability to interact effectively with patients in a mental health setting.
  • Organized, process-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and willingness to support the team as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience working with patients experiencing anxiety, depression, or related mental health concerns preferred.
  • Knowledge of clinical setting operations preferred.
  • Passion for supporting a patient-centered healthcare mission.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, feedback, teamwork, and professional growth.
