Job summary

IU Health Central Utility Plant is seeking a Powerhouse Technician for the evening shift to operate, repair, document, and maintain powerhouse electro/mechanical systems. You will manage stationary engines, steam boilers, generators, turbines, and auxiliary equipment to deliver reliable utility services.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years of relevant experience, and knowledge of OSHA/Joint Commission codes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Power Engineering Certification is preferred.
• Requires general knowledge of stationary engines, electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Requires current knowledge of federal, state, local, OSHA and Joint Commission codes and regulations.
• Requires the ability to read and interpret information from blueprints, schematics and diagrams.
• Requires a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Operates, repairs, documents and performs preventive maintenance needs of the powerhouse electro/mechanical systems within the facility.
• Operates stationary engines and mechanical equipment, which may include steam boilers, generators, steam turbines, air conditioners, distillers, water softeners and other auxiliary equipment to provide utility services.
• Observes meters and gauges to determine operating conditions of equipment and to regulate flow of water, fuel, steam pressure and oxygen in accordance with needs and safety standards.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
