Job summary

IU Health Central Utility Plant is seeking a Powerhouse Technician for the evening shift to operate, repair, document, and maintain powerhouse electro/mechanical systems. You will manage stationary engines, steam boilers, generators, turbines, and auxiliary equipment to deliver reliable utility services.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years of relevant experience, and knowledge of OSHA/Joint Commission codes.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Power Engineering Certification is preferred.
Requires general knowledge of stationary engines, electrical and mechanical equipment.
Requires current knowledge of federal, state, local, OSHA and Joint Commission codes and regulations.
Requires the ability to read and interpret information from blueprints, schematics and diagrams.
Requires a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Operates, repairs, documents and performs preventive maintenance needs of the powerhouse electro/mechanical systems within the facility.
Operates stationary engines and mechanical equipment, which may include steam boilers, generators, steam turbines, air conditioners, distillers, water softeners and other auxiliary equipment to provide utility services.
Observes meters and gauges to determine operating conditions of equipment and to regulate flow of water, fuel, steam pressure and oxygen in accordance with needs and safety standards.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
