Job summary

Hirschbach is seeking a Daytime Dispatcher to coordinate and manage daily transportation operations during business hours. You will schedule and dispatch drivers, monitor shipments, address delays, and ensure customer delivery requirements are met in a timely and efficient manner.

You will work with drivers, customers, and the operations team to optimize performance, support Hours of Service compliance, and build positive relationships across the Hirschbach network.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; relevant professional experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Transportation/Logistics/Supply Chain or related field is preferred.
• Ability to process information accurately and energetically; capable of multitasking and prioritizing work.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with drivers; answers calls, emails, and messages promptly to minimize hold times.
• Sends preplans to drivers and secures load commitments in a timely manner.
• Completes loaded and empty calls.
• Tracks operator performance from dispatch to delivery to ensure on-time service.
• Manages operator availability and updates drivers' PTA accurately.
• Optimizes performance including on-time pickup/delivery, Hours of Service compliance, and scheduling preferences.
• Builds and maintains professional relationships with Hirschbach operators and operations team.
• Coaches drivers to identify improvements and provides training as needed.
• Collaborates with Safety to ensure policy compliance and effective coaching.
• Identifies issues with settlements or pay and works with Driver Payroll to resolve them.
• Attends meetings related to Hirschbach operators and may travel to terminal locations.
• Oversees driver availability to maximize fleet productivity.
• Performs other duties to help accomplish organizational goals.

The Daytime Dispatcher will work closely with drivers, customers, and the operations team to ensure smoothtransportation operationsthroughout the day.

• Communicates with drivers. Promptly answers phone calls, emails, and messages to ensure propercommunication andeliminatehold time for operators.
• Sends preplans to drivers and secures load commitments withina timelymanner.
• Completes loaded and empty calls.
• Tracks operators’ performance from dispatch to delivery to ensure on-time services.
• Manages operator availability and updates drivers’ PTA accordingly and accurately.
• Responsible foroptimizingperformance of assigned driversincluding:on-time pickup and deliveryperformance, Hours of Service (HOS) compliance, driveravailabilityand scheduling preferences.
• Builds andmaintainsprofessional and positive relationships withHirschbachoperators and operationsteammembers.
• Coachesdriverstoidentifyopportunities for improvement and activelyprovidestraining/coachingneeded toassistdrivers in reaching their highest potential and performance.
• Collaborates with Safetydepartmentto ensure driversare in compliance withall policies and arecoached effectively to meet organizational company standards.
• Proactivelyidentifiesissues that may occur with an operator’s settlement or pay by working closelywith Driver Payroll.
• Attends meetings related toHirschbachoperators and occasionally travels to visit terminal locations.
• Managesdriveravailability to maximize productivity of the fleet.
• Other duties as assigned including proactivelyassistingothers in achieving the organization’s objectives.

Schedule: 4 on 4 off schedule from 6am-6pm

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent in education, paired with relevant professional experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Transportation/Logistics/Supply Chain, ora relatedfieldis preferred.
• Ability to process information withhigh levelsof accuracy and energy.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
• Computerproficiencyand ability to navigate between multiple programs.
