Job summary

Siemens Energy in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a Master Layout Designer to drive the mechanical design during order execution for power transformers above 100MVA/145kV. You will develop detailed tank layouts, optimize active-part placements, and generate customer documentation to ensure manufacturability.

You will collaborate across electrical, tank, and control design teams, use CREO/PROe/Inventor and AutoCAD, and coordinate BOMs in SAP. Relocation support may be provided for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of Master Layout/Tank Design experience for high-voltage transformers.
• Strong conceptual knowledge in preparing master layouts, including tank shape and active part placements.
• Proficiency in CREO/PROe/Inventor and 2D CAD (AutoCAD), plus SAP for BOM.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with electrical, tank, and clamping designers to prepare master layouts that meet customer specifications.
• Analyze transport profiles and active part dimensions to define tank shape and dimensions effectively.
• Determine placement of active parts, bushings, and tap changers while ensuring accurate clearances.
• Prepare technical specifications and order tanking components, including fans, pumps, and valves.
• Utilize 2D and 3D CAD software to model designs, generate drawings, and prepare BOMs.
